Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad - Clairton, Pennsylvania Bridge Rehab

TEC designed and oversaw the rehabilitation of a ten span railroad bridge for the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad in Clairton, Pennsylvania. The project included replacement of an existing through truss with a new 140ft deck plate girder, new concrete pier and abutment, steel repairs, and strengthening. Our work began on the project with a thorough inspection of the structure, followed by structural analysis, and a depreciated rating for the bridge. TEC determined that it would be more economical to replace the truss with a new span rather than make repairs. Effort was made to design a solution that kept track outages to a minimum, allowing the railroad to continue operation throughout construction.
